Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers on magnesium bath soaks, topicals, gummies and orders. Our soaks and topicals are cosmetic products, not medicines.
What is Coach Soak?
Coach Soak is a magnesium recovery brand for athletes and active people who take recovery seriously. We make bath soaks, topicals (recovery cream, body butter, magnesium oil spray), supplements (gummies) and a recovery tool, the Cryo Ball.
The bath soaks and topicals are cosmetic products. They are not medicines.
What is a magnesium bath soak?
It is a bath product built on magnesium chloride flakes. Our core soaks combine magnesium chloride flakes, Dead Sea minerals and Vitamin C crystals, plus essential oils in the scented versions. Check each product page for the full ingredient list.
You dissolve it in warm bath water, or in a basin for a foot soak.
What are the benefits of a magnesium bath?
A magnesium bath is a warm, mineral-rich soak that fits into a post-training or evening routine. Our soaks are cosmetic products: they soothe tired muscles, leave skin feeling soft and refreshed, and give you a set time to switch off. They are not a treatment for any condition. For a longer read, see how to use a muscle recovery bath soak.
What are magnesium flakes?
Magnesium flakes are magnesium chloride in flake form. They dissolve quickly in warm water, which is why our bath soaks and foot soaks use them. Epsom salt is a different compound (magnesium sulfate), covered in the answers below.
What is in the Coach Soak bath soaks and where are they made?
The core soaks are made with magnesium chloride flakes, Dead Sea minerals and Vitamin C crystals. Scented versions add essential oils: lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus and tea tree, or citrus. The Unscented soak has no added fragrance or essential oils. The soaks are made in the USA. Check the product page for the full ingredient list of the one you pick.
Does Epsom salt have magnesium?
Yes. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, so it contains magnesium. Magnesium chloride is a different compound, and it is the one our soaks are built on.
What is the difference between Epsom salt and magnesium chloride flakes?
They are two different magnesium compounds: Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, our flakes are magnesium chloride. Both dissolve in bath water. We do not claim that one is clinically better than the other. If you want the full side-by-side, read Epsom salt vs magnesium chloride.
Is Dead Sea salt the same as Epsom salt?
No. Epsom salt is a single compound, magnesium sulfate. Dead Sea salt is a mineral salt from the Dead Sea that contains a mix of minerals. Our soaks combine magnesium chloride flakes with Dead Sea minerals. For a comparison, read Epsom salt vs Dead Sea minerals.
What is the best magnesium bath soak for muscle recovery?
The best soak is the one you will use consistently, so compare three things: the magnesium compound (chloride flakes or Epsom sulfate), the full ingredient list, and the scent that suits your routine. Our soaks pair magnesium chloride flakes with Dead Sea minerals and Vitamin C crystals. We compare the options in Best Magnesium Bath Soaks for Muscle Recovery, or start with our soaks.
Does magnesium absorb through the skin?
Our soaks and topicals are made to be used on the skin. Research on how much magnesium the skin absorbs is still developing, so we do not put a number on it. What we say is what the products are: cosmetic soaks and lotions that soothe tired muscles and fit into a routine after training.
How much soak do I use per bath?
Add 1 to 2 cups to warm bath water and soak for about 20 minutes. Follow the directions on your product label.
How hot should the water be, and how long should I soak?
Use comfortably warm water, not scalding hot. Soak for about 20 minutes, drink water afterwards, and get out if you feel dizzy or unwell. If you have a heart condition or low blood pressure, or are pregnant, ask your doctor before taking hot baths.
Can I use a bath soak for a foot soak?
Yes. Add ½ to 1 cup to a basin of warm water and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. A good fit after long runs, games or days on your feet.
How often can I use a bath soak?
The label sets no fixed number. Use it after training, on rest days or before bed, whenever you want a mineral bath. Follow the product label, and ask your doctor first if you have a health condition.
Should I take a magnesium bath before or after a workout?
Most people soak after training or on rest days. The Lavender soak suits an evening bath, and Citrus is the pick if you want a fresh start to the day. Before training, use the Cryo Ball for a warming roll-out instead.
Is a magnesium bath a good fit for runners and gym training?
Runners and gym-goers use our soaks as part of their post-training routine: a full-body bath after a long session, or a foot soak after miles on the road. The soaks soothe tired muscles. They do not replace sleep, food, hydration or proper rest. For more, read recovery tips for runners.
Which bath soak scent should I choose?
- Lavender: calming and floral, a good fit for evenings.
- Peppermint: cooling and refreshing.
- Eucalyptus & Tea Tree: fresh and herbal.
- Citrus: bright, works any time of day, including mornings.
- Unscented: fragrance-free.
See all options in Magnesium Bath Soaks.
Which Coach Soak product should I start with?
Pick one route for a first order: a soak for a post-workout bath (Lavender for evenings, Peppermint for a cool, fresh feel), a recovery cream for targeted massage, or a bundle if you want both. Not sure about scent? A mixed bundle lets you try several. Browse all products.
Do I need to rinse after a soak?
Not required. Rinse with clean water afterwards if you prefer.
Is Coach Soak suitable for sensitive skin?
Skin reacts differently, so we do not promise it will suit everyone. If your skin is sensitive, try the Unscented soak, which is fragrance-free, and test a small amount first. Stop using any product that irritates your skin, and avoid contact with eyes. If you have a skin condition or allergies, check the full ingredient list on the product page or ask your doctor.
Can I use Coach Soak if I am pregnant, on medication or have a medical condition?
Ask your doctor before using any new bath, topical or supplement product in these cases.
Does Coach Soak help with sore muscles and cramps?
Our soaks and topicals are made to soothe tired muscles after training. They are cosmetic products, not medicines: they do not treat, cure or prevent injuries, cramps or any medical condition. If you get cramps often or feel pain that does not go away, see a doctor.
Does Coach Soak help with joint pain or arthritis?
No. Coach Soak products are not a treatment for joint pain, arthritis or any other condition. Talk to your doctor about joint problems.
Will a bath soak help me sleep?
A warm evening bath is a simple way to wind down, and the lavender soak and body butter are made for that routine. They are not sleep aids. If you struggle with sleep over a longer period, talk to your doctor.
What is the difference between the recovery cream, the body butter and the oil spray?
- Recovery Cream (100 ml): magnesium chloride with MSM, Vitamin C crystals, Dead Sea salt, aloe and menthol crystals. For massaging into tired muscles after workouts.
- Body Butter (120 ml): magnesium with mango butter, coconut oil and aloe. A rich, non-greasy moisturiser, made for evenings.
- Magnesium Oil Spray (120 ml): magnesium chloride, aloe leaf juice and essential oils. A lightweight spray without the heavy feel of a cream.
How do I use the magnesium body butter?
Massage it onto clean, dry skin in the evening or after a shower. The formula combines magnesium with mango butter, coconut oil and aloe for a rich, non-greasy finish, and the Lavender version is made for nighttime self-care.
How do I use the magnesium oil spray, and why does it tingle?
Spray it onto the area you want to work on, massage it in and follow the label. Some people notice a tingling or slightly stinging feeling with magnesium chloride products, especially on freshly shaved or sensitive skin. Test a small area first, stop if irritation continues, and keep it away from eyes and broken skin. The lightweight spray is made for easy use after workouts and on the go.
How do I use the recovery cream?
Apply a generous amount to tired muscles or targeted areas and massage gently until fully absorbed. Use it after workouts, after a bath or whenever you want. Avoid contact with eyes and follow the product label.
Why does the recovery cream feel cool or tingly?
The recovery creams contain menthol crystals, so expect a cooling feel in every scent. The Body Butter formula does not list menthol.
What is in the Recovery Cream?
Magnesium chloride, MSM, Vitamin C crystals, Dead Sea salt, aloe leaf juice and menthol crystals, plus the essential oil of the scent you choose (lavender, peppermint or eucalyptus). It comes in a 100 ml size. See the product page for the full ingredient list.
Does magnesium cream work?
Our recovery creams are cosmetic products. They moisturise the skin and give a cooling massage experience on tired muscles after training, and that is what we claim. We do not claim they treat pain, cramps or any condition, and we do not quote absorption numbers. Try one as part of your post-workout routine and see how it feels for you.
Can I use magnesium cream on my legs after running?
Yes. Massage it into tired legs, calves and feet after a run or leg day, following the label. Keep it away from eyes and broken skin. Pair it with a soak or foot soak for a full post-run routine.
Can I use the soak and the cream together?
Yes. Soak first, then apply the cream afterwards. Our recovery bundles pair the two.
What is in the 3X and 5X bath soak bundles?
The 3X Mixed Bundle has Eucalyptus, Lavender and Citrus. The 5X Mixed Bundle adds Peppermint and Unscented. We also sell single-scent bundles and soak-plus-lotion recovery bundles in Lavender, Eucalyptus and Peppermint.
What is the Cryo Ball and how do I use it?
The Cryo Ball is a rolling recovery tool for cold or heat. Chill it for a cooling massage after activity, or warm it to loosen up before training, following the product instructions. Roll it gently over the area you want to work on. The Ice Recovery Pro Kit also includes two single-use magnesium recovery cream sachets, Eucalyptus and Lavender.
Should I use heat or cold after a workout?
People use both. A cold roll can feel refreshing after activity, and warmth can feel good before training or in the evening. The Cryo Ball does either, so you can try both. This is a comfort choice, not medical advice: if you have an injury, swelling or lasting pain, see a doctor or physiotherapist. More in heat or cold for sore muscles.
How do I take the Creatine Monohydrate Gummies?
A serving is 4 gummies, which provides 5,000 mg (5 g) of creatine monohydrate. A bottle holds 120 gummies, which is 30 servings. They are sugar-free, vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free. Follow the label, and ask your doctor first if you are pregnant, nursing, on medication or have a medical condition.
Creatine gummies vs powder: what is the difference?
Powder needs mixing; gummies are a chew. Our Creatine Monohydrate Gummies deliver 5 g of creatine monohydrate per 4-gummy serving, are sugar-free and vegan, and need no shaker. The right format is the one you will take consistently. See Best Creatine Gummies for how we compare brands.
Do creatine gummies work, and when should I take them?
What matters is the dose on the label: 5 g of creatine monohydrate per serving of 4 gummies, 30 servings per bottle. Take the full serving as directed, at a consistent time that fits your day. Supplements sit alongside training, food and sleep, they do not replace them. Read our creatine gummies guide, and ask your doctor first if you are pregnant, nursing, on medication or have a medical condition.
How do I take the Shilajit Gummies?
Take 2 gummies daily. A bottle holds 60 gummies. Each serving lists its ingredients and amounts: Shilajit standardised to 5% fulvic acid, Ashwagandha, Irish Sea Moss, Beet Root, Lion's Mane and Black Seed. The gummies are vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free. Follow the label, and ask your doctor first if you are pregnant, nursing, on medication or have a medical condition.
Are Shilajit gummies safe, and are there side effects?
Shilajit gummies are not right for everyone. Check the full label, take only the serving shown, and ask your doctor first if you are pregnant, nursing, on medication or have a medical condition. Stop use and speak to a doctor if you react badly. The formula is lab tested, vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free, with no proprietary blends. More in our Shilajit Gummies safety and FAQ guide.
